Intensive Moscow's Strikes Disrupt Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced escalating strikes in recent weeks

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were hurt while local people in eastern neighborhoods were experienced blackouts and faced disruption to water supplies, as stated by city officials.

Meanwhile, a minor was fatally injured in a distinct Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

Moscow has intensified attacks on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while the country's government has requested "substantial measures" from partner nations to increase pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the America, Europe and the major economies - in providing defensive weapons and enforcing penalties," was stated in a online statement.

Officials stated that 450 drones and more than 30 missiles attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were working to fix the damage.

A series of attacks damaged electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Multiple people injured in the assaults on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by city authorities.

Area administrators said the city came under significant strikes throughout the evening. A minor lost their life and multiple civilians were wounded.

The assaults come after evenings of air raids in the territory, sections of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to spot.

Authorities told the media that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already impacting fuel infrastructure.

He said energy workers and authorities were bracing for more assaults.
