La Petite Maison's Cocktail – The Method

We present a home-style interpretation of a cocktail found on the seasonal cocktail list. It's a party-sized prepared mix that's packed full of tastes of the Christmas time, making it perfect for a festive gathering. Reserve the remaining syrup for breakfast cocktails, sweets, or to make more rounds of this cocktail.

Bikini

Yields 10 servings

For the Clementine Cordial (produces 750ml)

300ml recently pressed clementine juice
200ml fresh lemon juice
500g granulated sugar

For the Premix (yields 850ml, enough for 10)

400ml good quality vodka
100ml London dry gin
150ml peach liqueur
200ml clementine cordial (from the recipe above)
Fresh cranberries, as a garnish
Mandarin essential oil, to finish

Directions

Making the Citrus Syrup: Combine the listed ingredients in a pot, heat until it reaches a gentle boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Then, take off the burner allowing it to cool entirely. Decant to a sterilised bottle, seal keeping it in the fridge, where it will keep for up to four weeks.

To make Batch Mix: Mix all the spirits and syrup into a large bottle, allow it to infuse for one hour, then filter it preferably using muslin, so it's perfectly clear.

To serve: Measure 85ml from the cocktail base into a mixing glass containing ice, and stir lightly for about 60 seconds until cold. Filter to a chilled martini glass or a similar vessel, decorate with the cranberries and complete it with a quick spritz of mandarin oil above the glass.
