An individual who laced treats with sedative and provided them to children at a summer camp in the area has admitted sexual crimes against two young males both nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight minors and a grown-up became sick at the facility in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on recently.
However, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old child.
The accused was remanded in custody ahead of a additional proceeding on late November.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, detailed the defendant's actions to the court.
She said his those affected were under-privileged children who were staying at a youth camp which he operated.
Ruben engaged in a "sweet game" with the minors, Mrs Prior said, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and request they to consume candy "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had played this game with the boys "over an extended period", and minors had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She explained the defendant had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had worries in summer 2025.
The legal representative stated further: "This year his family member had concerns about what was going on, justifiably.
"They chose" to examine in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor said materials including baby oil, ointment and medical needles were found, and his family member notified the police about his worries.
She explained the defendant proceeded to play the "treat game" with six youngsters that time - that Saturday - and they were all sick the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that time," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
The prosecutor explained the minors were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so the stepson contacted the law enforcement again.
She explained the defendant then engaged in the "sweet game" in a area of five minors.
